General information

People suffering from excessive sweating are in a particularly uncomfortable position in stressful situations. Excessive perspiration is most often found under the arms (armpits) but also on the hands, feet and forehead. Heavy sweating can now be easily treated with botulinum. Botulinum is a medicine that is injected into the skin in small quantities using a fine needle. The drug inhibits the transmission of nerve cell excitation and thus prevents the sweat glands from producing excessive sweating. By this process, odours of sweat are also considerably reduced.

What is botulinum ?

Botulinum is a medicine produced from a natural bacterial protein. Botulinum has been used in ophthalmology and neurology for more than 25 years. It has also been used in aesthetic medicine for many years. Botulinum is most often used as a medicine against excessive sweating under the arms or to treat expression lines such as frown lines. The botulinum products we use are not tested on animals.

Treatment procedure
At the Bellefontaine Clinic

Before the procedure

Before injecting botulinum, please tell us if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication such as anticoagulants or antibiotics, or if you have nervous or muscular disorders.

During the procedure

For your comfort, you receive an anaesthetic cream in the area to be injected. The botulinum injection session is then carried out in a room suitable for this treatment, where cleanliness and aseptic conditions are required. The injection points are drawn on the cleaned and disinfected skin. The botulinum is precisely injected into the skin by Dr. med. Yann Favre with a very fine injection needle. Only approved and guaranteed products are used at Bellefontaine. The treatment takes 20 to 30 minutes. Small redness and swollen areas appear at the injection points and disappear after 15 minutes.

After the procedure

You can then return to your work or daily activities immediately after treatment. Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas after treatment. You should also avoid sports and deodorant for 24 hours after the injection. If necessary, a check-up with an additional injection is included 15 days after treatment. The effect of the treatment begins 2 to 5 days after the injection and is maximum 15 days after the injection. As a rule, the treatment lasts 6 months.
