Before the procedure
Before each hyaluronic acid injection, please let us know if you are pregnant, breast-feeding, have used other fillers or are taking medications such as anticoagulants. We also ask you to come without make-up or lipstick.
During the procedure
For your comfort, a numbing cream is applied to the lips. If necessary, the lips are also anesthetized using a special technique. During the injection, we advise you to adopt a special position with your face to achieve optimum results. The injection is carried out in a room adapted to this treatment, where cleanliness and aseptic conditions are required. Injection points are drawn on cleansed and disinfected skin. Only approved and recognized products are used at Clinique Bellefontaine in Lausanne. Small pink, swollen areas appear at the injection points and disappear after 15 minutes.
After the procedure
To enhance results, you should not massage your lips 24 hours after treatment, nor expose them to excessive pressure. For the first 24 hours after treatment, you should also refrain from sports, sauna and steam baths. As a general rule, you can return directly to work after treatment. In most cases, the effect of the first treatment lasts between 9 and 18 months.
Risks and side effects
Treatment is generally well tolerated. In the first few days after treatment, there may be slight swelling, local hardening or short-term alterations to the sensory system of the lips, but these quickly resolve. Other possible side effects include temporary bruising and redness at the injection site. Asymmetries are rare.
