Before the procedure
Your journey begins with a personalized consultation with Dr. Favre, who will take the time to understand your needs and expectations. We will assess whether hip liposuction is sufficient or whether other areas need to be treated to achieve a harmonious result.
Analysis of your general health, including measurement of your weight, examination of the thickness of the subcutaneous fat, skin quality, and the possible presence of subcutaneous fibrosis.
If your skin is significantly loose, we will discuss alternatives such as Renuvion, which tightens the skin without additional scarring.
Pre-operative tests, such as a blood test, are always carried out to ensure your safety.
The procedure
Preparation:
- On the day of the procedure, everything is carefully prepared to ensure your comfort and safety.
- The areas to be treated are marked while you are standing, checked, and approved by Dr. Favre and yourself for optimal precision.
- Once you are lying down, the surgical area is disinfected and prepared under strictly sterile conditions.
Technique:
- A tumescent solution (Klein solution) is injected through small, discreet incisions. This solution contains painkillers and medications to minimize pain and reduce bruising.
- If necessary, we use Vaser technology to liquefy fat in fibrous areas or for high-definition liposuction.
- The fat is suctioned out using PAL micro-cannulas.
- The procedure generally lasts 1 hour if only liposuction of the hips is performed. It is performed on an outpatient basis.
Quality control during the operation:
Regular checks are carried out in a standing position during the procedure to ensure that there are no irregularities. If the procedure is performed under general anesthesia, we carry out these checks after the patient has woken up.
After the procedure
Compression garment:
A specialized garment is put on immediately after the procedure to help the skin retract and adapt to the new shape. It must be worn day and night for 3 weeks, then only at night for an additional 3 weeks.
Post-operative recommendations:
- Some discharge of the tumescent solution mixed with blood is normal and will disappear after 12 hours.
- You may shower 48 hours after the procedure.
- A course of antibiotics is prescribed for 5 days to prevent infection.
Rest:
It is crucial to limit prolonged standing to 2 or 3 hours per day during the first few weeks, especially if liposuction of the abdomen has also been performed. This reduces the risk of complications such as significant swelling or seromas, which could compromise the aesthetic result.
Pain management and recovery:
Cramp-like pain may be felt for 1 to 2 weeks, but this is usually well controlled by painkillers.
