Plump, well-formed lips are considered a sign of attractiveness and give the face a seductive charisma. As the effects of ageing take hold, lip volume depletes to leave a thinner, flatter appearance. Wrinkles and fine lines may also appear, contributing to a less smooth look, less defined borders and a flattened ‘Cupid’s bow’, creating an overall tired and aged appearance. Dr. med. Yann Favre can restore your lips to a harmonious and natural shape through targeted lip shaping with hyaluronic acid filler. In most case, Lip filler treatments can last from 9 to 18 month.

General information

Aesthetic lip treatments with hyaluronic acid include lip contour treatment, lip shaping and lip volume enhancement. Hyaluronic acid binds water and thus brings a lot of moisture to the skin and ensures firmness and vitality to the tissues. Over time, the natural production of hyaluronic acid decreases and the skin loses its elasticity and support. By naturally increasing the volume of the lips and correcting the shape of the lips with a lip filler, natural hyaluronic acid can help to achieve a harmonious overall image of the mouth.

Treatment procedure
At the Bellefontaine Clinic

Before the procedure

Before each hyaluronic acid injection, please let us know if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have used other fillers or are taking medication such as anticoagulants. We also ask that you come without make-up or lipstick.

During the procedure

For your comfort, you receive an anaesthetic cream for your lips. If necessary, the lips are also anaesthetised using a special technique. During the injection, we recommend a special position adapted to your face in order to obtain an optimal result. The injection is carried out in a room suitable for this treatment, where cleanliness and aseptic conditions are required. The injection points are drawn on the cleaned and disinfected skin. Only approved and recognized products are used at the Bellefontaine Clinic in Lausanne. Light redness and swollen areas appear at the injection points and disappear after 15 minutes.

After the procedure

For best results, you should not massage the lips 24 hours after treatment or expose them to excessive pressure. During the first 24 hours after treatment, you should also refrain from sports, sauna and steam bath. As a general rule, you may return to your workplace directly after treatment. During the first treatment, the effect can last between 9 and 18 months.

Risks and side effects

The treatment is generally well tolerated. In the first few days after treatment, there may be some slight swelling, local hardening or short-term alterations of the sensory system of the lips, but these resolve quickly. Other possible side effects are small temporary bruising and redness at the injection site. Asymmetries are rare.
