Liposuction or liposuction

Liposuction has been our specialty for over 10 years, and we have various machines at our disposal to perform this procedure. The “Microaire PAL” allows us to extract fat. We generally use a 4 or 5 mm “basket” cannula for fat extraction. The Vaser is an ultrasound machine that “liquefies” the fat before it is extracted. The “Body jet” is a liposuction machine that is mainly used in cases of lipoedema.

A panty girdle, also known as a compression garment, will be put on immediately after the procedure and must be worn for three weeks. Ciproxine antibiotics will be prescribed for three days. The pain is often cramp-like and is treated with Daflagan and Novalgine. It is at its most intense after 3 to 4 days but is easily managed with painkillers. You can shower for the first time 48 hours after the procedure. It is important to remain seated or lying down for the first 2 weeks, especially if liposuction was performed on the abdomen.

For office work, you can return to work after 3 to 4 days, but you should remain seated. Activities that require standing can be resumed 2 weeks after the procedure.

The vast majority of liposuction procedures are performed on an outpatient basis. Patients can therefore go home on the same day, whether they have had local or general anesthesia.

The duration of the procedure depends on the number of areas to be treated and the amount of fat to be removed. In general, it lasts between 1 and 3 hours.

The “common” and partially preventable risks after liposuction are irregularities and seromas. The risk of irregularities can be minimized by systematically checking the patient in a standing position after the procedure and making any necessary corrections immediately. A seroma is an accumulation of fluid in the tissues under the skin. Skin sagging may occur but can potentially be avoided with Renuvion. Other risks such as infection or bleeding are very rare—in our practice, we have never had to give any of our patients a blood transfusion.
