Before the procedure
Before the treatment, we determine during the consultation whether Renuvion® treatment of your skin is a good option. To this end, we clarify questions about your general state of health. We measure your body weight, height, fat percentage, and the thickness of the subcutaneous fat layer. If the skin is too loose and Renuvion® is not a good option, other procedures such as arm, tummy, or thigh lifts are suggested. During the initial consultation, the areas to be treated will be marked while you are standing and checked in front of a mirror. A blood test is required before the procedure. When the abdomen is being treated, we always request an ultrasound scan of the abdomen before the procedure. Blood-thinning medications such as NSAIDs should be stopped 10 days before treatment with Renuvion®.
During the procedure
Skin tightening with Renuvion® begins with local anesthesia, deep sedation, or general anesthesia. Once the anesthesia has taken effect, the areas to be treated are precisely treated with the helium plasma jet. This penetrates the tissue, heats the connective tissue fibers for a short time, and then cools them back down to body temperature. The controlled warming of the skin also stimulates collagen formation in the skin, which further improves the results in the months following the procedure. When Renuvion® is combined with Vaser® liposuction, the same injection points are used, which means that no additional incisions are necessary. With conventional liposuction, the connective tissue has a limited ability to retract after the procedure.
After the procedure
For 3 weeks after the operation, you will need to wear a compression garment – pantyhose – to reduce swelling and bruising. One of the advantages of Renuvion® alone is the short immobilization time associated with the treatment. In our experience at the Bellefontaine Clinic, 3 days are usually sufficient. You can then return to work and resume your normal daily activities. If liposuction has been combined with Renuvion treatment, the immobilization time will be longer. Please find the information on the liposuction page. With Renuvion alone, however, it is best to wait three weeks before doing sports or other strenuous physical activities. As a rule, the results achieved with Renuvion® are long-lasting, provided that there are no significant weight fluctuations that put the connective tissue under strain again.
Risks and side effects
A Renuvion® skin lift is considered a very safe procedure, especially when performed by experienced doctors. As with any procedure, however, there may be pain, swelling, small bruises, and temporary numbness at the injection sites. However, these symptoms usually disappear on their own within a few days. A common painkiller, which you can take as needed in the first few days after treatment, can also help relieve pain. In very rare cases, there may be bleeding or inflammation at the puncture sites. In this case, please contact our Bellefontaine clinic in Lausanne immediately. How much does skin tightening with Renuvion® cost? Skin tightening with Renuvion® starts at $2,900, but the costs depend on the area and surface area being treated. They can therefore vary greatly from person to person. If liposuction is also performed, we always offer a discount for both procedures. We would be happy to provide you with a personalized quote after a no-obligation consultation and comprehensive examination at the Bellefontaine Clinic in Lausanne.
